May 08, 2008: Hey look, a nest! (Part 2)
12 days after spotting the eggs, I found that we've got 3 baby birds and 1 egg left. And yes, as predicted, them's some way ugly babies.
Since we found the eggs, I've been trying to get a picture of momma bird on the nest. Today was the first time I've been able to get a picture before she flew off.
If things go normally, in about 2 weeks we've have an empty nest and 4 teen-aged birds off to bird-college.
Ever since I played the recordings of robin calls, I've been listening for them. Most mornings I can hear their morning call. If the kids have been cranky, I've been able to hear the birds as early as 5:45am - well before the other birst start singing.
